The Place I Used to Know

I moved to the UK two and a half years ago.

A Place I Used to Know is a personal project that was born from a feeling of dislocation and distorted belonging when visiting my home city of Wrocław, Poland. I found myself wandering the streets that I once called my own, feeling like a tourist. It left me confused and made me question my cultural identity.

Trying to make sense of it, I decided to document the things that caught my attention, from distinctive architecture to the lack of smiles on the street. Through that process, I realised that during those two and a half years away, I have slowly distanced myself from the slovakian culture and way of living - I was now able to look at my surroundings from a completely new, objective point of view. I found that both interesting and incredibly frightening.
